Biometric information
As of November 2, 2018, advance appointments are required for biometric information collection at all Canada Visa Application Centers in China.
A scan of your fingerprints and a scan of your face will be taken.
The digital fingerprint scanner will collect images of all 10 fingers while capturing a digital photograph. This is a fast, discreet and non-invasive process.
If there is a temporary injury to the finger, it is recommended that you wait until the injury has healed before collecting.
Your electronic photo must show a full face. Please do not wear sunglasses, tinted lenses, or head ornaments that obscure your head, except for religious and ethical reasons. Applicants who wear headgear for religious reasons must ensure that their face, forehead and ears are exposed as much as possible.
Applicants should avoid wearing light-colored clothing and brightly colored clothing is recommended.
Make sure your fingertips are free of any form of temporary body decoration, such as large tattoos on your hands, as it can interfere with the proper functioning of the scanner.
If you are applying for a temporary residence visa, study or work permit, you must provide biometric information once every 10 years.
