MosBuild is the largest international trade fair for building and interior materials in Eastern Europe and Russia, certified by the Union of International Fairs and Exhibitions (UFI). The exhibition area is 100,000 square meters, with buyers from 40 countries and 82 regions of the Russian Federation. 90% buyers come from Russia itself. The exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Russian Union of Architects, the Russian Union of Designers, etc. The turnover of the Russian construction market, which is about 4 trillion rubles per year, is gradually recovering since 2020, and at the end of June it basically reached the level of 2019. Housing remains the driving force of the Russian construction market. Russian homes above 50% were built in the 1950s and 1960s and are largely technically obsolete, and people above 60% are actively seeking and trying to solve the housing conditions problem. Professional analysts say that up to 120 million square meters of housing need to be built each year to solve this problem, and the Russian government offers a set of measures to support the country's construction industry and housing needs. China is the main importer of building and decorative materials in Russia, with annual imports of stone, porcelain and glass products alone amounting to about $1.26 billion, accounting for 29.2% of total imports of building materials.
